FUTURE MAKERS SUMMER ACADEMY 2026
Science and English in play with DiSTEMLaB’s Summer Academy
Welcome to the Future Makers Summer Academy, the innovative summer experience where play becomes the tool to explore the future. Under the scientific direction of the Bicocca Laboratory for STEM Education (DiSTEMLaB) of the University of Milan-Bicocca, Future Makers will experience the thrill of creating with their own hands.
When and where
The Summer Academy leaves the University and reaches the surrounding areas to create a widespread academy!
The 2026 edition will take place in the Municipality of Lesmo (Monza and Brianza).
Period: from 15 June to 10 July 2026, Monday to Friday, with weekly enrolments.
Participants: Only for Future Makers born between 2015 and 2018 who have completed second, third, fourth, and fifth grades of primary school.
Venue: Newly built multipurpose hall and adjoining garden at the State Comprehensive Institute on via Donna Rosa, Lesmo (MB).
Important note: If the new facility is not ready to host us at the start of the Academy, activities will be held at the premises of the Municipal Park on Via Ratti, Lesmo (MB).
The program
Each week the Future Makers will tackle one of the four global impact themes:
- Nature Lab
- Universe Explorers
- Sustainable cities
- Robotics and artificial intelligence.
Activities include workshops in astronomy, natural sciences, robotics, coding and 3D printing. All with the support of an educational team made up of experts in STEM teaching also in English, to strengthen language skills in a natural way.
The typical day
We provide hospitality and supervision from Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 16:30.
08:30 – 09:00: Welcome.
09:00 – 12:00: STEM workshops (with snack break and free play).
12:00 – 13:00: Lunch (included).
13:00 – 14:30: Free play, readings and homework club.
14:30 – 16:00: Multisport and/or art-music workshops (snack included).
16:00 – 16:30: Free play and pick-up.

Fees and registration
The Summer Academy will host a maximum of 35 Future Makers every week. Places are limited, sign up now!
Registration includes all teaching materials, meals, and insurance.
Some places will be reserved for registrations by residents of the Municipality of Lesmo, at a reduced fee thanks to an agreement with the Municipality of Lesmo. Discover the details here.
Weekly Fees:
Residents in Lesmo: € 180.00.
Non-residents: € 260.00.
⚠️ Important deadline: The reduced fee for residents is guaranteed only until May 15, 2026, while places last. After that date, remaining places will be open to everyone, at full fee.
To register a Future Maker for the Summer Academy, follow these steps:
- Fill in the registration request form at the link https://forms.gle/XvumzqMwpbpJz7VL9
- Wait for our email with instructions on how to make the payment by the deadline we will indicate.
- Send a copy of the payment receipt to summer.academy@distemlab.it
Note: only after sending the receipt can we confirm the registration.
- You will then receive the acquittance from the administration of the University of Milan-Bicocca.
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions / Contacts
What should the Future Maker bring in their backpack? They should have a morning snack, a water bottle, a hat, sunscreen, and any books for homework or relaxing.
Can they bring mobile phones or games from home? No, it is not allowed to bring electronic devices or valuable items, so as not to distract Future Makers from discoveries in the lab.
What happens if the Future Maker feels unwell or can’t come? In case of illness during the day, parents will be contacted for immediate pick-up. Unfortunately, absences or cancellations are non-refundable.
Who can pick up the Future Maker at the end of the day? Parents or adults authorised at the time of registration, with an ID document.
Will there be photos or videos? To protect privacy, we will not show participants’ faces in photographs. Photos of settings or of the work produced may be published without people portrayed.
